Published magazines made by and for young women across the globe form the centerpiece of this project. These so called grrrl zines provide a forum where women's voices can be raised and heard. Relatively unkown in Austria, Rebel Girls, Rebel Wor(l)ds offers an insight into grrrl zines from various countries - through a zine reading room and workshop.
The selected "zines" deal with art, music and pop culture; women's bodies, health and sexualities; personal and political issues. The web site Grrrl Zine Network (http://grrrlzines.net) interlinks the worldwide "zine" community. The screening of Kara Harold's film "Grrrlyshow", a round-table discussion and zine workshop with eight zine editors from Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany and Italy provide firsthand insights and actively involve participants in the process of zine-making.
Workshop conductors:
Jitka Kolarova (Prague, editior of the zine Bloody Mary)
fiber (Vienna)
Red Chidgey (fingerbang distro, England)
Alva Dittrich (Bonn, editor of Toilet Paper)
Veruska Bellistri (Rome, editor of the zine Clit Rocket)
